Pop star Prince will receive the lifetime dedication award of Black Entertainment TV (BET) by the end of this month. This 52-year-old singer had been collected 10 platinum albums and his name was displayed 30 Top-40 singles throughout his career. His hit songs include “Purple Rain” and “Raspberry Beret”, and “Batdance”, soundtrack of the movie “Batman.” He also wrote the song “Nothing Compares to You”, made famous by Sinead O’Connor.
“Prince is dynamic. Prince is a genius. Prince is music,” said Stephen G Hill, president of the BET program. BET Awards this year will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. The ceremony will be held in Los Angeles, United States, on June 27.
This year’s event will be hosted by Queen Latifah. Some stars will appear on stage, like Kanye West, Diddy and Ludacris and Dirty Money.
BET Awards will be given to artists, entertainers, and athletes in 19 categories. Jay-Z is nominated in five categories. His wife, Beyonce, is also nominated in four categories. Alicia Keys and Fiona Melanie also have an opportunity in the four categories. There are many other eminent, such as Rihanna, BOB, Maxwell, Usher, Monica, and Black-Eyed Peas. There is also a new Canadian star was a teenager, Justin Bieber, who isnominated as best new artist.
